History of the company

1973:
Günter Kuhn founded the company as "KUHN-Baumaschinen" (KUHN Building Machines) in Eugendorf near Salzburg, laying the foundation for its future development.

1986:
The company concluded general agency agreements for the distribution and sales of Palfinger cranes and Mitsubishi forklifts. "KUHN-Ladetechnik" (KUHN Loading Systems) was founded.

1990:
KUHN KFT was founded in Budapest, Hungary as the company's first foreign subsidiary. KUHN's Mitsubishi sales made it the market leader for forklifts powered by internal combustion engines. KUHN KFT moved to a new headquarters in 2003.

1992:
KUHN Bohemia a.s. was founded in Prague, Czech Republic as a service and sales company for building machines.

1994:
A general agency agreement was concluded with KOMATSU for the distribution and sales of building machines. This laid the foundation for KUHN's becoming one of Europe's largest KOMATSU dealers.

1995:
The KUHN Group took over KOMATSU Bratislava and renamed it KUHN Slovakia.

KUHN MT s.r.o. was founded in the Czech Republic as the general importer of Palfinger cranes. Separate divisions were created for building machines and loading systems.

KUHN d.o.o. was founded in Ljubljana, Slovenia as a dealership for KOMATSU building machines and Mitsubishi forklifts.

1996:
KUHN Hrvatska was founded in Zagreb, Croatia as a sales and service organization for KOMATSU building machines and Mitsubishi forklifts.

2000:
The KUHN Group took over Swiss KOMATSU importer Küpfer and renamed it KUHN Switzerland with branch establishments in Heimberg/Bern and Lommis/ Zurich.

2001:
An important move was taken with a view to the future. Günter Kuhn's two sons, Andreas Kuhn and Stefan, assumed functions in the operative business of the family-run business. KUHN Building Machines was expanded by creating the subsidiary KUHN Building Machines Germany.

2002:
The service center at KUHN Vöcklabruck became the European headquarters of KUHN Loading Systems and a competence center for heavy-duty cranes. The group's IT center and the central training facility for its employees are also located here.

2004:
KUHN Building Machines Germany expanded its sales area beyond Bavaria to include large parts of Baden-Württemberg.

2006:
KUHN-Polska Sp.z.o.o. was founded. KUHN acquired the rights to distribute and sell Mitsubishi forklifts on the Czech and Polish markets.

2007:
The headquarters of KUHN Holding and KUHN Building Machines were completed in Eugendorf, Austria after an eighteen-month construction period. Since then more than 2700 square meters of workshop space and 1400 square meters of office space have been available for use as a service center for Building Machines and Loading Systems.

2008:
After a one-year construction period there is now a new KUHN MT service center in the northern part of the city of České Budějovice that has more than 2600 square meters of workshop space and 900 square meters of office space. It is Loading System headquarters in the Czech Republic.

2010:
After a 7.5 months construction period there is now a new KUHN-Slovakia service center in Senec/Bratislava that has more than 2600 square meters of workshop space and 900 square meters of office space. It is headquarters of Construction Machines and Loading Systems in Slovakia.

2011:
Kuhn acquires the EMCO Group
The  strong divisions construction machines and loading engineering are complemented with the leading machine tool manufacturer Emco, operating  as the third pillar of Kuhn. Through the acquisition of Emco the whole Kuhn-Group now has a total of 1330 employees and a turnover of € 575 million
